Cross-referencing information from acid resistance charts and the manufacturer’s material database is helpful. For example, abrasive acids typically require a more durable and rugged mechanical seal than non-abrasive acids. This will reduce the frequency of mechanical seal replacements and improve operational reliability. The same holds true for other system components, such as abrasion-resistant hoses and gaskets. Regular maintenance should include checking for leaks, cleaning the mechanical seal, and ensuring the motor protection is effective to prevent ingress of dirt and dust. For optimal operation, the pump should be serviced every three to six months, depending on usage intensity. A qualified technician can perform these services, removing the pump from service, detaching it from its power supply, and reassembling, testing, and re-sealing. This routine maintenance minimizes downtime and keeps the acid pump running at peak performance.
