Warman Submersible Pumps

The warman pump range has been designed to deliver high performance, energy efficiency and reliability in tough mine applications.warman submersible pumps These include abrasive and acidic slurry pumps, sump/dewatering pumps and dredging/process plant/tailings pumps. The pumps can be constructed from various hard-wearing materials such as stainless steel for abrasive applications and a range of high-quality thermoplastics for acidic applications.

Weir Minerals has worked to reduce overall life cycle costs by developing new features that increase a pump’s longevity and reliability.warman submersible pumps These improvements can result in significant reductions in the overall cost of ownership.

Many problems that impact the performance of a pump are related to moisture intrusion into critical internal electrical or lubricated components, abrasive wear of wetted components and insufficient slurry feed flows that cause overheating and cavitation.warman submersible pumps These issues can lead to costly downtime.

In mining operations, these losses directly impact production, reducing recoveries and ultimately the bottom line.warman submersible pumps This can be especially problematic for companies with a global footprint and multiple sites.

Weir Minerals is committed to supporting customers to maximise the lifetime of their pumps through a global network of more than 150 locations. This allows them to deliver pumps, parts and expertise when and where they are needed.

The Warman DWU pump has been specifically designed to meet the challenges of dirty water applications such as increased suspended solids in mining effluent, acidic and abrasive slurry pumps and high discharge head pressures. This is achieved through the use of state-of-the-art solids modelling and finite element stress analysis to achieve maximum wear life.

This heavy-duty pump is well suited for sump/dewatering, red mud recovery, clarifier sludge and seawater/sand slurry dewatering applications. It is also highly resistant to clogging and has a balanced double mechanical seal arrangement that encloses both sets of seal springs in an oil reservoir, only exposing the silicon carbide faces to the slurry.

This arrangement increases the mechanical seal’s lifespan, enables the pump to operate with no gland seal water injection and reduces maintenance requirements. It also enables the DWU pump to operate at high discharge head pressures and significantly improves its ability to handle abrasive slurry applications. The pumps are built to withstand extreme conditions including harsh environments, vibration and shock loadings and are available in both electric motor drives and hydraulic drive configurations. They are also suitable for varying temperature conditions and are fitted with winding thermostats that automatically sound an alarm or shut down the pump when internal temperatures exceed safe limits. In addition, the pumps are designed to run dry in the event of a loss of slurry. This feature eliminates the need for suction hoses and can reduce the risk of overheating and premature mechanical failure in abrasive applications. The pumps can also be fitted with an optional cooling jacket to assist in very hot conditions.
